The Antigua & Barbuda Social Security Board wishes to remind ALL Employers that in accordance with the Social Security (Collections of Contributions) (Amendment) (Regulations), Statutory Instrument 2016 No. 60, the contribution rate will increase by ½% as of 1st January 2019. The contribution rate will increase from 12½% to 13% for private sector employees; and from 11½% to 12% for public sector employees.

Therefore, the new contribution rates are broken down as follows:

• Private Sector – 13 %

  – Employees – 5½ %
  – Employers – 7½ %

• Public Sector – 12 %

  – Employees – 4½ %
  – Employers – 7½ %

• The contribution rate for Self-employed persons remains at 10%.

The maximum insurable earnings remain at $6,500.00.
