In a brief ceremony on April 3, 2017, the ABSSB recognized its oldest male and female pensioners at its London House location on Long Street.
Mr. Steadman Looby, age 99, and Mrs. Theresa Simon, who resides in San Francisco and who just celebrated her 103rd birthday last month, were the two recipients who received tokens from the Director, Mr. David Matthias and Deputy Director, Mr. Geoffrey Joseph.
Mr. Rexford Simon, also a Social Security pensioner, accepted on his mother’s behalf, while daughters, Valerie Smith and Patricia Looby were in attendance in support of their father, Mr. Looby.
Customer Relations Manager, Ms. Aneta Matthew assisted the Directorate with the distribution during the brief ceremony.
On April 2, 1973, Social Security officially opened its doors to provide social security services to the people of Antigua & Barbuda and has been endeavouring to live up to its company motto, ‘growing to provide for you’, ever since.
