As added protection for our Social Security contributors and beneficiaries, the Antigua & Barbuda Social Security Board (ABSSB) has increased the security features of the Social Security cards. These features enhance the card’s security through the use of a special background, micro-text and holographic-type images.

  8. In a brief ceremony on April 3, 2017, the ABSSB recognized its oldest male and female pensioners at its London House location on Long Street. Mr. Steadman Looby, age 99, and Mrs. Theresa Simon, who resides in San Francisco and who just celebrated her 103rd birthday last month, were the two recipients who received tokens from the Director, Mr. David Matthias and Deputy Director, Mr. Geoffrey Joseph.

  9. In the first encounter of the 2017 ABSSB Junior Science Quiz series, the St. Mary’s School of Excellence defeated the Christ King High School with a final score of 280 to 200 points. Then the Clare Hall Secondary School defeated the St. Joseph’s Academy in the second encounter, by a 10 point win; 230 to 220. In the third encounter, the All Saints Secondary School emerged the winners, as they defeated the Antigua Grammar School with a score of 290, to AGS’s 195 points. The ABSSB would like to congratulate the winning teams thus far, and encourages every one to continue supporting our students as the series continues to air every Wednesday evening at 6:00 p.m on ABS TV Channel 10.

  10. The ABSSB wishes to advise ALL Employers and Self-Employed persons that contributions for March 2017 are due NO later than Thursday 13th April, 2017. Also, be reminded that in accordance with Statutory Instrument No. 60 of 2016, contribution rates for 2017 are 12% for Private Sector Employees and 11%; for Public Sector Employees as of February 1st, 2017. Self-employed contribution remains at 10%.

The Antigua & Barbuda Social Security Board wishes to advise all employers that have weekly paid employees that the new rate of 11% for Government employees and 12% for Private sector employees commences from February 6th, 2017. This means that this week ending February 3rd should be calculated at 9% and 10% respectively. Please be guided accordingly.

The Antigua & Barbuda Social Security Board (ABSSB) wishes to advise ALL Employers that in accordance with the amended Regulations for Collection of Contributions No. 60 of 2016, the contribution rate will increase by 2%, as of February 1st, 2017. Therefore, the new contribution rates are as follows: Private Sector employees pay 5%; Private Sector employers pay 7% Public Sector employees pay 4%; Public Sector employers pay 7% Self-employed contribution remains at 10%.
