  2. All, employers and self-employed persons are reminded that remittance payments for February 2019 are due no later than 15th April 2019 to avoid the 10% surcharge. Further, employers are asked to take due care when submitting the monthly Remittance Form [R5A] as any incomplete or incorrect information will attract a penalty fee of $100 per page. N.B.: For 2019, contribution rates are: Private Sector - 13 % - Employees - 5½ % - Employers - 7½ % Public Sector - 12 % - Employees - 4½ % - Employers - 7½ % The contribution rate for Self-employed persons remains at 10%. Remittance payments can be made via the Drop Box located at the Royal Palm Branch. Monday to Friday: 8:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.

The general public is hereby advised that when making a claim for the Funeral Grant Benefit, an original death certificate and the receipt or invoice for the cost of the funeral must be presented to the Social Security Office.   12. The Antigua & Barbuda Social Security Board wishes to remind ALL Employers that in accordance with the Social Security (Collections of Contributions) (Amendment) (Regulations), Statutory Instrument 2016 No. 60, the contribution rate will increase by ½% as of 1st January 2019. The contribution rate will increase from 12½% to 13% for private sector employees; and from 11½% to 12% for public sector employees. Therefore, the new contribution rates are broken down as follows: Private Sector - 13 % - Employees - 5½ % - Employers - 7½ % Public Sector - 12 % - Employees - 4½ % - Employers - 7½ % The contribution rate for Self-employed persons remains at 10%. The maximum insurable earnings remain at $6,500.00. Please be guided accordingly.

  19. The Antigua & Barbuda Social Security Board apologizes to the pensioners of Eastern Caribbean Amalgamated Bank and the Bank of Nova Scotia for the inordinate delay of pension payments for October 2018. The Organization has been experiencing funding challenges due to the low returns of remittances. Contribution Income is usually low in the summer months and September, historically. We wish to advise that funds for Eastern Caribbean Amalgamated Bank have been released and we intend to release the funds for the Bank of Nova Scotia on Friday 16th, November 2018. Again, we apologize to our pensioners who have been unfortunately affected by the current situation and pledge our commitment to addressing these funding issues.
